THE STORY
Duo began with a simple idea: What if you could electrify the bike, you already love — without ruining its performance or design — and remove the system easily when not needed?
We’re James, Brad, and Dave — the same team behind Wattwheels, an e-bike company based in Christchurch, New Zealand. We’ve spent decades racing, fixing, designing, and helping others enjoy bikes.
The Duo wheelset is our answer to the limitations we kept hearing from real riders. They didn’t want bulky, clunky, or unsightly conversion kits. They wanted electric support that looked good, worked beautifully, and felt just like a road bike — only better.
So, we designed it all: intuitive assist levels, a sleek battery setup, and high-performance carbon wheels. While we’ve partnered with top-tier manufacturers, all the concept development, testing, and fine-tuning happened right here in New Zealand.
Duo isn’t here to replace your bike — it’s here to make the one you love even better.
This project is about more than electrifying a bike — it's about keeping the soul of the ride intact. As a former competitive cyclist who can’t train like I used to, the Duo lets me stay with the bunch while still enjoying the ride I love. I'm proud of what we’ve built, and excited to share it with the world at Eurobike,”
